An antique brass hourglass holding certified soil from Jerusalem's Temple Mount. Sold out in September, and back for Christmas.
The Temple Mount is where Solomon built the First Temple, where the Second Temple stood, and where Jesus taught. For 3,000 years it has been the center of biblical history.
"To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven."Ecclesiastes 3:1
In 1999, about 9,000 tons of earth were dug out of the Temple Mount and dumped in the Kidron Valley. Archaeologists Dr. Gabriel Barkay and Zachi Dvira started the Temple Mount Sifting Project to save it, sifting it by hand and recovering more than 500,000 artifacts, including a silver half-shekel from the Jewish revolt.
Inside the Temple Mount Hourglass is certified soil from that same earth, blended with a fine quartz sand made for hourglasses. Turn it over, and ground from the Temple Mount moves through your hands.
Set it on a desk, a mantel or a bedside table, and let it keep time beside the people you love.
Every hourglass comes with a numbered certificate that traces its soil back to the Temple Mount.
Soil removed from the Temple Mount is sifted by hand by the Temple Mount Sifting Project, the only authorized body verifying and studying Temple Mount material.
Every piece of Temple Mount Soil is certified, numbered and signed by the project's co-founders, Dr. Gabriel Barkay and Zachi Dvira.
The soil is blended with fine quartz sand so it flows freely, then sealed inside an antique brass and glass hourglass.

The soil is grey, not golden. And a substantial percentage of every purchase funds the Sifting Project's ongoing research.
