Jerusalem of Gold
The Old City walls, keeping watch over sacred ground.
The Jerusalem of Gold stand offers a moving glimpse of the iconic buildings of ancient Jerusalem, symbols of the beauty and many faces of the holy city. Every face of the piece reveals a different angle of the city, while the text running around the walls and the authentic soil from the Temple Mount excavations at its center weave all the parts together, a striking stand that reveals the charm of Jerusalem from every point of view.
The name recalls one of the oldest treasures in Jewish memory: the golden ornament engraved with the city's skyline that Rabbi Akiva gave his wife Rachel nearly two thousand years ago. The psalmist made the same promise every believer knows:
"If I forget you, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget its skill." (Psalm 137:5)
In 1999, construction on the Temple Mount displaced soil holding three thousand years of history. The Temple Mount Sifting Project recovered it, and a substantial percentage of every purchase funds the Project's ongoing research. No future excavation will ever take place there. Once this soil is gone, it is gone forever.
Designed by Adi Sidler, a graduate of Jerusalem's Bezalel Academy, internationally renowned for contemporary ritual objects marked by clean aesthetics and pristine finishing.
Your keepsake arrives in the black Temple Mount Soil Collection gift box with an individually numbered capsule and a Certificate of Authenticity signed by the co-directors of the Temple Mount Sifting Project.
Crafted in aluminum, stainless steel and perspex, on a non-slip base. The stand measures 2.4 x 2.4 x 1.6 inches (62 x 62 x 40 mm) and weighs 1.4 ounces. Available in four finishes: brushed silver, grey, warm gold, and matte black. The gold edition carries the city's name in Hebrew, ירושלים.
Ships from Israel. Please allow 15 business days for delivery.
