Inside it, certified soil from Jerusalem's Temple Mount, recovered by the archaeologists of the Temple Mount Sifting Project and blended with a fine quartz sand made for hourglasses, so that the sand flows freely and the hourglass keeps true time. The Temple Mount soil is grey, not golden.
